Do Children Hate You? Science Says It's Probably Because You're Ugly

by N/A, 9 years ago | 1 min read

Way harsh, science.

Science Parenting Psychology Lifestyle

Do you have memories of being afraid of certain family members or friends of your parents? Did the thought of having to be near them or (God-forbid) hug them send shivers down your spine and make you break out into tears? Chances are, it's because they were ugly.

According to a study conducted by Frontiers in Psychology, children link attractiveness to trustworthiness. When children were shown the pictures of 200 different men, they were asked to rate the men in order of how trustworthy they thought each man was. A month later, the participants were asked to rate the men again, but by attractiveness.

Researchers found that the men deemed most trustworthy were also the ones that were deemed most attractive by the kids.

This probably explains the crying or anxiety that comes with an ugly person. As a child, it's harder to conceal our emotions when we feel like we're in a threatening situation.

So I have some bad news if you find that kids typically cry at the sight (or even at the thought) of you...

But don't fret! Own your looks.
