Lori Nix, a New York based photographer and her partner Kathleen Gerber have created their own post-apocalyptic world. Their realistic display is unlike anything you've ever seen before. See the photos below:
This photographer's obsession with the end of the world is brought to life in these dioramas

Each shows an ordinary setting that has been demolished

Many of his dioramas depict Mother Nature taking back what was once claimed by humanity

Instead of a packed shoe store, you're shown an empty and decrepit space

His artwork is full of building that were once fortified but are now decaying

Each diorama ranges in size. Most are somewhere between 18x24 inches and 9x10 feet.

The models are made of numerous materials including: extruded foam, glue and latex paint.

Gerber adds dirt and accents to each structure to mark each scene with weathered looks and distress.

Each diorama can take up to 7 months to complete and even 2 weeks before a perfect shot is captured

Here you see a library, reclaimed by the earth. Such incredible detail!

If you look closely in some scenarios, you'll see animals who have survived the demise of civilization

Nix and Gerber create many scenes include foreshadowing, such as this modern home falling victim to the apocalypse

All of their dioramas have a frightening and ominous element to them.

It's amazing how realistic each and every piece of art becomes.
