Raccoon Dogs Exist And They're Your New Favorite Animal

This looks like a raccoon casually chilling on someone's bed, right? 

And this looks like an adorable little puppy, warming himself by the fire.

Well, both are kind of right because this is a tanuki aka a Japanese raccoon dog. 

This particularly adorable domesticated tanuki has his own Twitter account

Which has provided us a wealth of delightful images about Tanu's life

Like a dog, Tanu likes to go on walks

And like a raccoon, he'll eat just about anything. 

He also enjoys playing in the snow

Playing with toys

And sleeping, lots of sleeping

That's because tanukis also hibernate in the winter, so this is prime sleeping season for Tanu. 

But no matter what he's doing, we love to watch him do it.
