If You Enjoy The Finer Things Life Offers, You Should Add This Doughnut To Your List
If you enjoy the finer things in life, have a bunch of money you're willing to throw away and have an undeniable sweet tooth you're in luck, because the Manila Social Club in New York City has just combined all of those things into a decadent doughnut. Now, you'd have to be about the most gluttonous person on Earth to succumb to the financial strain this doughnut will put on your pocketbook, but if you don't mind holding that sort of title you should have at it:
"The Gold-Ube Donut"
You can read into what I'm getting at as much or as little as you'd like (even though it actually stands for its Filipino menu) as I digress back to the point of this article, which is a $100 doughnut covered in both 24-karat gold and champagne. Yes, if you're rich enough that you just feel spending money to eat something that could be exchanged as currency you should get the "Golden Cristal Ube Donut," i.e. eat your money quite literally.
He explained the origins of this equal parts salivation inducing yet financially regrettable creation over on First We Feast:
"We have this doughnut program where we make doughnuts every Friday, and you can only order them online on Thursday…The Golden Cristal Ube Donut came along because there is a brewery in Bushwick called Braven Brewery, and we know the owners Marshall and Erik…We had a doughnut event where I unveiled a doughnut with icing made with Braven White IPA, dusted with gold."
If you're still craving something über-ube, but you're slightly less gluttonous/money wasting/fanciful in your sweet tooth fulfillment you can get their classic "Ube-Bae Donut" for $40 a dozen. And these are only sold by the dozen.
It seems these are simply injected with the ube mousse, and are lacking the champagne and 24-karat gold that the upper-crust of Williamsburg, New York City so desires. These also have to be pre-ordered and can be delivered if you so choose. However, I'd liek to think if you're going to make your way to NYC for either one of these ube creations, maybe catch an Uber ride to do it? Seems fitting.
Back to the "Golden Cristal Ube Donut," it was originally created just for the holidays, but DelaCruz says there's been enough demand, that they will continue to make it throughout the year.

One thing is for sure: if you can afford $100 on a doughnut, you're doing pretty darn well for yourself. Don't even get me started on if you're someone willing to go in on a dozen of these. C'mon, isn't it pretty obvious what I'm trying to say? No? Well, I'll say it:
"These things are über expensive!"
