Starbucks Fans: Get Ready. The Latest Holiday Drama is a Drink That Tastes Like Christmas

by N/A, 10 years ago | 4 min read

Remember the 'Red Cup Controversy' surrounding the release of the Starbucks' holiday season cups? Remember how it was apparently a 'War on Christmas' that needed to be stopped?! REMEMBER?! We certainly haven't forgotten, so it seems like a pretty well-timed PR move for Starbucks to decide to release a new holiday drink as if we'd just forget everything and go back to drinking their deliciously expensive beverages. Not so fast Starbucks–we're onto you!

Christmas Coffee holidays Beverages Non-Premium

Okay, Starbucks, you really think you can just come out with a 'Holiday Spice Flat White' and think we'd forget how much you hate Christmas?!

Really?! You don't think anybody notices you're still serving it up in that anti-Christmas cup, and the name is explicitly 'Holiday Spice Flat White,' i.e. HOLIDAY?!

You don't think customers can see what you're doing here?! There's a controversy over how much Starbucks is against Christmas just because of red cups, but rather than addressing it, you try and fill our brains with caffeine and HOLIDAY spice?! Get real.

It's so obvious what's going on. Well done, PR team, well done! Too bad we see exactly what you're doing and won't buy into this anti-Christmas propaganda (anymore)!

Just look at how much this drink says HOLIDAY and nothing about CHRISTMAS! Isn't it obvious?!

Wait, quick question: how can it be a "Christmas Blend Espresso Roast" if it's in fact a 'Holiday Spice Flat White' to begin with?! It can't, that's how! It's not too late! Never forget: the 'Red Cup Controversy.'

Um, Earth to: JESSICAT–you can't "bleed Christmas" from a 'Holiday' drink! Starbucks has muddled your mind with their spices and coffee beans.

Don't let them win this apparent War on Christmas just because they have mastered the art of coffee art (and PR)! Get a grip, sheeple! The answer is right in front of you: 'Holiday' drinks are anti-Christmas (even though Christmas is a holiday).

You can look the other way if you want, but forgetting the tragedy of the 'Red Cup Controversy' precisely means you don't like Christmas. Is that what you want?! Well then, "Happy Holidays" to you!

Admittedly, this does look rather delicious, and the cup is just red, but now is not the time to back down! Corporate America cannot and will not win this war!
