Any book lover will tell you that reading a good novel can be a beautiful experience, but artist Isobelle Ouzman decided she wanted to take that one step further with these stunning works of art created from old novels. You can check out more of her work on her website.
Ouzman carefully carves each book to create a beautiful story
As you go further into the book, you get drawn further into the art, seeing new layers every time you turn the page
Each piece of art is created to reflect the book that is used to create it
By using the layers and layers of pages, Ouzman is able to create a path that invites to viewer to dive deeper in
The text of the books are often painted over, but sometimes it stays on the page, reminding you where this art originally came from
Ouzman says she finds the books in recycling bins and dumpsters, wanting to give them new life instead of being thrown away
Each and every layer is cut by hand, and then glued back together
Here you can see one of her books in progress. Eventually the entire book will be used to create the art
