Smog is a huge problem in some areas of the world.Â
Smog is usually a fog or a haze combined with vehicle emissions, burning coal and other hazardous materials. It makes everything dirty and can have a harmful effect on people and animals.

Sometimes, in areas that are heavily filled with smog, people will wear masks in order to keep it out of their lungs and bodies.

Daan Roosegaarde, a dutch artist living in Beijing, has an idea that could help with the amount of smog in the city.

At first, his plan might sound a little crazy, but it could actually work and help create a major awareness for this problem as well.Â
He wants to use static electricity to suck the smog out of the air and turn it into jewelry. It might seem kind of out there, but the technology is out there and this would create a major awareness for this issue.

Roosegaarde says, "It is a strange process to suck the pollution out of the air and have it in our hands a few minutes later...It looks like a mystic black powder, but most mesmerizing about this is that normally you would have to breathe it.â€

"I wanted to make people part of the solution, not part of the problem," explains Roosegarde. "Making tangible and wearable material of the smog is a way of creating awareness. By buying or sharing the smog ring, you donate 1,000 cubic meters of clean air to the city.â€
